When to Take Measurements
It is important that the edema is at its most reduced state. Most often this is found first thing in the morning or at the end of treatment.
How to Take Measurements
Measurements should be taken in the standing position. Limb should be at its smallest. Limb size at the time of measurements should be maintained to assure a proper fit of the garment.
Measurements should be as accurate as possible. When on borderline between sizes, the amount of edema present and the anticipated reduction should be considered. If significant edema is present and reduction is anticipated, a smaller size should be selected. If edema is minimal, a larger size should be selected.
If measurements do not fall within any one size category, a custom garment may be a better option.
